Honey Garlic Mustard Sauce (For Chicken or Salmon)

Here is something I like to put on Salmon or chicken... works pretty well...

1 tablespoon butter, melted
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons honey mustard
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon garlic powder

Combine the melted butter, vegetable oil, Worcestershire sauce, honey mustard sauce, brown sugar, and garlic powder in a large bowl. Whisk to combine. Reserve 2 tablespoons marinade for basting.

Basically then just put what ever you are cooking into sauce and let it marinade for an hour or two. Cook... eat... Good.

3 dollar Mac and Cheese

I'm going to file this under the "Not quite the deal of the century" section. Its a box of Kraft Mac and Cheese in Tokyo... all yours for 300 yen. If I'm not mistaken... isn't this like 5-10x the cost you could get it in Canada / US. But then again... I'm really not sure you its even worth that!

Trip to Kamakura

We had some great weather here on Saturday. About 22 degrees (yes celcius!) I'm guessing that things won't stay that warm for much longer, but it was a day to get out. Get out and ride! Well... I rode my @ss down to Kamakura beach. Essentially just rode through Yokohama, then Kamakura itself, and finally to the beach. I did the trip down in one straight shot, not stopping other than to make a quick call to see if Doug was around (he wasn't - he was doing real work, running 26km!!). It was a great ride down. Here are some photos.

My bike parked at the stairs to the beach. With the bike shoes on ... didn't go on the sand.

This is a picture of the beach. As it was warm, it was BUSY. Probably can't tell by this photo, but there were a lot of people around playing volleyball, surfing or generally just relaxing. The great weather brought all the beach combers out.

Couple of Good Recipes

If you haven't been following much of Jamie Oliver's site, you should. He's got some good food on there, and really makes the recipes accessible to all. Also what I've found is that most stuff is fairly simple and the ingredients can be bought or easily substituded even if you live in Japan. Check out the chicken breasts that he makes, and this is probably the one that Kiyomi and I make the most:

Recently I also made a bit of comfort food. Some bangers and Mash! The sausages area actually really easy to do in the fish griller that Japanese stoves have. Was fairly easy and fairly quick. Always good, topped off with Gravy. I think I haven't had this since one night when living with Ryan and Yuko!
