One of the new house...

Well folks here is a picture of the new house! As you can see we have a few boxes to deal with. This was actually on the first day of the move so we had not actually started to unpack anything. It is looking somewhat better, but not that much I suppose! Thankfully we actually have the space now!

Now that is a big TV

Check out this baby. Only about 50K for the lucky buyer... do not think it would be able to fit into my house....
101Inch TV.

Watch Those Stickers...

If you are in Retail... please watch where you put those stickers... these should read analogue cover kit... but as you can see in the pictures, they are not quite that.

Last Day in the Koyamas...

Well the day has finally come... We have finished the move. After about six and a half years I have moved out of Chateau Koyama. It is kind of hard to believe, but really that place has been my main address in Japan for a long time, and actually the longest that I have lived in any one place since before university. Even then I think I lived there almost as long as we did at Calvington place... Not quite but almost. I do feel a little sad to leave, especially the old 'hood, but I guess all that is balanced out with how happy I am to have my own place.

Anyhow... here as some pictures today of the old place, as we went to go and do one last little walk around... those of you have been there, will recognize the place... although just with no furniture.

Sorry I could not get anything brighter... but we had the power stopped to the old place... so that was the best I could do with the camera phone. It was a strange feeling to walk around the place with out anything in it. Although it did kind of remind me of the time when Ryan and Yuko left and the place was almost empty! The first floor was echoing and a bit lonesome. Anyhow, best to look forward to the good times that we will have in our own home

From the Balcony and around the Neighbourhood

Well the move went pretty well. We only have a few things to do in house. I have to setup the main computer, and also unback most of my casual cloths... but nothing that is pressing. Even cooked dinner tonight... kind of nice to consider that it was in my own placed and on my own stove.

Here are a couple of pictures from the house and around the neighbourhood. The first one is of the long driveway... you can actually see that you can fit two cars.

Next one is of a templet (that is quite large, and nice) not too far from my house. Next to it is also the Shinagawa Ku historical museum. Hope to hit there one day... but not sure how much will be in English. Modern Japanese is hard enough... the older stuff is damn well impossible.

Today we also had delivery of the new bed (my first REAL bed ever that I have bought ... well Kiyomi did, up till no used futons). The security systems guys dropped by, met the neighbours (seem nice) and also had two airconditioners installed. All while we continued to pack. Most of the curtains are up... which was nice as we have some privacy.

We've Moved!

Well the move has gone pretty successfully. The scary bit was getting the sofa up to the second floor. It did not make it up the stairs but was hoisted over the balcony that we have there. I will try and post some pictures in the next couple of days.. right now it is just boxes and a mess.

4 days left in Musashikoyama

Well the move is on Saturday... looking to be a busy day that is for sure. I hope that all goes well. But it seems that we will have rain. Which if any of you have moved with me, is pretty much par for the course. I usually find that I have rain whenever I move my stuff. It is a great tradition, and I think that no move would be complete with out it.

We are right now in the middle of some great weather though. Which means that I can ride to work, as my hours have also normalized somewhat after my last project. I didn't have too many chances over the last month with the work load, although I did a couple of quick trips to around (including one to Yokohama which was quite fun).

The picture is a snap near the palace on my way to work yesterday morning.

New House Looks Good

Well the new place looks good! We walked over there after work on Friday night after getting the keys. Overall everything was looking good. The place is better than I remembered! Or maybe that is the rose coloured glasses I have after buying the place. We walked around the (completely) empty house. In that state of course it seems big! Well by Japanese standards I think that we are not doing too badly. The area is also nicer than I expected, with more atmosphere than I thought. Hopefully I will get to love that area as much as I love this one.

It is a little sad to think that I am leaving this place after to many years... I moved in here in September 2000! My God that is a long time. In fact it is the second longest that I lived in any one house I think.

I have some photos of the place, but with all the moving I am not sure where my cables are for the camera to get the pictures onto the laptop! DOH! The best laid plans and all that.

We will be sending out a mail later on to all those we can with new contact details and everything (move date is actually next Saturday). Hopefully we will be able to have all of you over for a BBQ!

Big Morning

We are off to go and get the keys to the house this morning... it has been a long trip to get to this point, and it is strange to think that it is finally over. Also strange to think that I am leaving a house that I have lived in for close to seven years. I really am happen to move, but know that I will also miss this place.

Eijuken

Well tomorrow is the big day. I am going to go and get my permenant residency for Japan. Overall this will make things a little easier than before because I will not need to renew visas and my re-entry permit. Goint to immigration is really a huge pain in the ass, but oh well at least this will end it for a long time. Oh yeah the whole process costs about 100bucks Canadian, plus time...
